Rachel Taylor, Owner 

Born in Minnesota and raised in South Dakota, Rachel spent the first half of her working life as a certified public accountant and lawyer. Today, those skills and knowledge assist her in managing and growing Jewel of the West in an ever-evolving retail world. With a keen eye for the finest items to bring to her store, she feels fortunate to work with an amazing group of young women and enjoys welcoming thousands of visitors to her store each year. Her free time is filled with adventures of a little girl and her cowboy daddy. 

Born and raised in Hill City, Dana has been with Jewel of the West for eight years and brings many talents to our team. Dana draws on her many years of experience in the beauty industry to assist our customers with finding their perfect “look.” She is also one of our favorite local jewelry designers, and her collections are available exclusively at our store, with new pieces introduced throughout the year. Dana is also responsible for all of our amazing store displays (check them out on Facebook). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her “tribe” of grandchildren.  

Originally from Colorado, Kelly now resides in the Black Hills and has been with Jewel of the West for five years.    She is the athlete among the team, spending her free time volunteering, running, traveling and baking. Kelly is a great salesperson but is also primarily responsible for the daunting task of inventory management.  Thankfully she keeps us well organized and on track!

A retired English teacher, Catherine joins our team every summer for which we are always joyful and thankful! Born and raised in South Dakota, Catherine is a virtual textbook on what to do and see while in the Black Hills. She has done it all, and seen it all too! Having been part of the Jewel of the West team from the beginning, she is well versed on the many artists we represent. She is a gem to work with... and will not only help you find the perfect gift for yourself, but will also suggest many fine restaurants and places to visit during your time in the Black Hills.
