Located between two of our country's most majestic national monuments, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial, Jewel of the West is located on historic Main Street in Hill City, South Dakota. The late Victor K. Jepsen, a spirited entrepreneur and dedicated educator, opened the store in 2000 with the help of his wife Rachel, who leads the store today.
Our boutique store features a comprehensive, evolving collection of items reflective of life in the West. With a strong emphasis toward handcrafted items and a personal fondness for one-of-a-kind jewelry, we have an enthusiastic selection of sterling silver and semi-precious stone jewelry from local designers like Dana Voorhees, Linda Thelin and Claudia Wieland-Randall, as well as nationally recognized artists like Lilly Barrack, Leo Fenney, Paige Wallace and many, many more.
To compliment our extensive jewelry collection, and in the spirit of contemporary western fashion, we also carry fashion-forward clothing, handmade handbags, boots, belts and buckles. In endless pursuit of new and innovative designs, the selection is ever-changing.
And let's not forget our home in the West! Jewel of the West also features handcrafted, local and regional pottery by Gail Heilmann and Susan Davy, amazing art of Karen Noles, Nancy Glazier and Claude Steelman, along with beautiful gallery lamps and even a few gorgeous chandeliers (just waiting to be hung from your ceiling). Our home decor selection features handcrafted table top designs by Beatriz Ball and Rosanna, hand blown glass by Blenko, and textiles by French Laundry and Tasha Polizzi, all creating an endless selection of gift items for you... your home... your family... and your friends.
When in the Black Hills, please stop in and experience personalized shopping at its best. And before your trip, shop online (so you have something fabulous to wear when you're having your picture taken in front of Mount Rushmore)! We thank you for your patronage, and look forward to seeing or speaking with you soon.
